Garment Care Guide
General Care Principles
Proper care extends the life of your Zahrah Modest pieces. Always check the care label inside each garment before washing or ironing. When in doubt, opt for the gentler option.
Washing
Most of our pieces are best hand-washed in cool water with a mild detergent. For machine washing, use a gentle cycle at 30°C or below. Avoid using bleach or harsh chemicals as they can damage delicate fabrics and embellishments.
Drying
Lay flat or hang to dry away from direct sunlight to prevent fading. Avoid tumble drying unless the care label specifically permits it. Tumble drying can cause shrinkage and damage to embroidery and beading.
Ironing
Iron on a low to medium heat setting on the reverse side of the fabric. Use a pressing cloth between the iron and the garment for embellished or delicate pieces. Steam ironing is recommended for structured pieces such as blazers and co-ord sets.
Storage
Store garments in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Hang structured pieces such as blazers and gowns to maintain their shape. Fold softer pieces like abayas and maxi dresses to avoid stretching. Use garment bags for long-term storage.
Embellishments & Beading
Pieces with beading, embroidery, or lace should be hand-washed only and turned inside out. Avoid wringing or twisting these garments. Store flat or rolled to protect embellishments.
Dry Cleaning
Heavily structured pieces, evening gowns, and garments with intricate embellishments are best dry cleaned. If the care label recommends dry cleaning, please follow that instruction to preserve the garment.
